Meet the Team: Maurice Goodman
October 24, 2024
Introducing Maurice Goodwin, Slip Robotics' very own illuminator extraordinaire! Maurice has been lighting up our company (quite literally) for the past two years. He makes sure our robots not only function flawlessly but also look dazzling while doing so. With his positive and winning attitude, he keeps our spirits high and the robots working at their best.
Known as 'The Light Man,' Maurice is the genius behind the fancy lights and flashy components that make our robots shine. He usually works on assembling the LED lights, which Maurice expertly configures to flash in a mesmerizing array of colors. Each color represents a different status: red for stop, green for go, and other colors for various operational states. These lights are not just about aesthetics; they provide critical visual feedback that helps users understand the robot's current state at a glance.
Maurice also assembles the vital corner sensors that are an integral part of our robots' emergency stop functions. These sensors act as the robot's "nerves," capable of stopping movement instantly to prevent accidents. Each corner piece that Maurice works on is carefully installed to ensure that in the event of an emergency, the robot will stop immediately.
Maurice's role is critical to customer satisfaction and perfectly aligns with Slip Robotics' goals of delivering superior, reliable products. He takes pride in contributing to a process that ensures our customers are happy and our robots perform flawlessly.
Prior to joining Slip Robotics, Maurice didn't have much experience with electronics. Thanks to his quick learning ability and a fantastic mentor, he quickly mastered the intricacies of the job. Maurice's coaching experience honed his leadership skills, enabling him to learn quickly and teach others effectively. Now he's our go-to guy for all things lighting and sensor, making sure every detail is perfect.
Maurice deeply appreciates the opportunities at Slip Robotics that have allowed him to prove himself and grow professionally. He is proud to be part of a company that offers such a cutting-edge, innovative product. Looking ahead, he's excited to take on more leadership roles as the company expands and help new team members grow and thrive. Maurice envisions a future where he can mentor others and contribute to the company's success on an even larger scale.
Outside of work, Maurice is a man of many talents. He coaches middle school basketball, proudly displaying his medals and his own college championship ring. Music is another of his passions, with Maurice creating hip-hop tracks that serve as a therapeutic outlet and timeline of his life. He's also writing a novel - a mystery/romance about a jealous king and a thrilling game of cat and mouse.
When it comes to books, Maurice enjoys mystery novels, especially those by Dan Brown. However, his favorite book is the Bible, which he finds inspiring and emotionally fulfilling. Maurice appreciates its widespread influence and the peace it brings him.
Whether coaching a middle school basketball team to victory, assembling state-of-the-art robots, or writing his novel, Maurice brings a winning attitude and positive outlook to everything he does. A true beacon of light (pun intended) at Slip Robotics, Maurice brings brilliance to everything he does.
